Sugar Eggs
Here come the instructions:
The molds I use are Wilton molds, and the instructions are straight from one of their books.
Sugar Mold Recipe:
4 1/2 cups granulated sugar
3 Tblspn. water
Mix by hand, kneading for about 1 minute until sugar is moistened and packs like wet sand. Keep mixture covered with a damp cloth. Add 1/4 teaspoon meringue powder for strength.

Tinted Sugar:
Substitute part liquid food color for water in recipe. Tinted sugar makes the prettiest molded decorations.

To Make Sugar Molds---
1. Make sugar recipe.
2. Pack sugar mixture into mold as firmly as possible.
To make multicolored mold, start with features and press the desired tinted sugars into mold. When making more than 4 sugar decorations from the same mold, dust mold with cornstarch to prevent sticking.
3. Scrape off excess sugar mixture with a spatula, so top is even with edge of mold.
4. Unmold sugar at once by placing cardboard over mold. Turn mold and cardboard upside down and lift mold off releasing sugar shape. Let dry 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Turn right side up and carefully hold in the palm of hand. Do not squeeze or move sugar mold while it is in your hand or it will crack. Use a spoon to mark 1/4 inch thick shell on inside rim of egg. Start at center of egg and gently scoop out soft sugar (if egg cracks in two, wet and fill in crack with sugar mold mixture, then carefully press together). After sugar is scooped out, smooth inside and opening of egg with your fingers. Place egg right side up on cardboard circle to finish drying. Now it's ready to be decorated. If you buy Wilton's Great Eggs Kit, either the large or the small, besides getting the molds and the recipes, you will also get more in depth, step by step instructions on decorating them. Any hobby store should carry it and I believe WalMarts has it in their craft site. When I got mine I believe it cost about 10.00, and it's the only way I know of to get all the detailed instructions for each of the designs.
