Chair Pin Cushion & Heart Back Variation
MATERIALS:
1 - skein (4 ozs) 4 ply yarn in main color
1 oz, 4 ply yarn in contrasting color
No. F or G hook (make firm stitches)
Tuna can and top
upholstery stuffing
BACK TOP OF CHAIR
Piece # 1- With main color ch 4, sl st to form ring.
Row 1: Ch 3, make 14 dc in ring, sl st to ch3. Fasten off.
Row 2: Attach contrasting color between any 2 dcs, ch3, make 1 dc in base of ch 3. Make 2 dc between every dc around row. (30 dc) Sl st to top of ch 3. Fasten off.
Row 3: Attach main color in between any 2 dc, ch 3, make 1 dc in base of ch 3. *Make 1 dc in next st, make 2 dc in next st.* Repeat between * around row. Sl st to top of ch 3. Fasten off. Make 1 more piece exactly the same as above. (Seat of chair.)
Piece No. 2 - Make 2 more pieces as above using rows 1 through 3, only use main color for all rows. Place the solid main color wrong side up, place the tuna lid on top of it, place some upholstery stuffing, (I used polyester fiberfil), on top of lid; now place first piece made with 2 colors right side up. With main color, sc around both circles. (Set aside)
SEAT OF CHAIR
Using the 2nd piece No. 1, attach main color in between any dc in row, ch 3, make a dc in every st around, sl st to the top of ch 3, ch 1. Make a sc in every st around row, sl st in ch 1. Fasten off. Change to contrasting color and make a ch 1, and make a sc in each st around, sl st to ch 1. Fasten off.
Attach main color in any sc and ch 3, make 1 dc in each st around, sl st in ch 3, ch 1 make 1 sc in each st around, sl st sto ch 1. Fasten off. Attach contrasting color, ch 1, make 1 sc in each st around, sl st to ch 1, fasten off. (This should just fit over a tuna can, adjust by adding any rows needed. If it is too big, use a smaller hook.)
Fill can with stuffing until it is overflowing. Place crocheted seat over can. Turn seat upside down, place main color piece No. 2 over bottom of seat. Hold both pieces together, turn work to front, attach main color yarn through both pieces, ch 3, make 2 dc in same st, make 3 dc in each st around. (For ruffle) Sl st to ch 3. Fasten off.
SIDE ARMS: (make 2)
Ch 5, sl st to form ring. Ch 3, make 19 dc in ring. (20 dc) Sl st to top of ch 3, ch 1, make 1 sc in each st around. Fasten off.
Sew back top of chair to top seat of chair. Use 7 or 8 sts on each. Sew firmly in place. Sew a side arm to each side of back and top of seat.
With main color attach to bottom of seat and side arm. Make a reverse sc (Pie Crust) in each free st of side arm and around back of chair, then around second arm side to top of seat. Fasten off.

Crochet Heart Pincushion
(My Variation)
Red and white yarn and size J or larger crochet hook.
Make 2
Ch 4, sl to form ring
Rnd 1: ch 3 (count as 1 dc), 7 dc, 1 tr, 8dc, ch2, sl in beg ring. ch 2.
Rnd 2: sc in top of ch 3, 2 sc in next 2 st, sc in next 5 st, (sc, hdc, sc) in next st(heart point), sc in next 5 st, 2 sc in next 2 st, sc in next st, ch 2, slip in slip ( heart dip), ch 2
Rnd 3: sc in first st, 2 sc in next 3 st, sc in next 7 st, (sc, hdc, sc) in next st, sc in next 7 st, 2 sc in next 3 st, sc in next st, ch 2, slip in slip, ch 2
Rnd 4: sc in first st, 2 sc in next 3 st, sc in next 11 st, (sc, hdc, sc) in next st, sc in next 11 st, 2 sc in next 3 st, sc in next st, ch 2, slip in slip, ch 2.
Rnd 5* sc in next st, 2 sc in next st* 4 times, sc in next 11 st, (sc, hdc, sc) in next st, sc in next 11 st, *2 sc in next st, sc in next st* 4 times, (ending with sc), ch 2, slip in slip, ch 2.
Rnd 6: sc in next 24 st, (to center hdc), (sc, hdc, sc) in hdc, sc in next 24 st, ch 2, slip in slip, ch 2.
Rnd 7: sc in next 25 st, (to center hdc), (sc, hdc, sc) in hdc, sc in next 25 st, ch2, slip in slip, fasten off.
Make 2 hearts & put then back to back, attach white yarn at center top and begin to crochet 2 hearts together using * sc, ch 1* in each st to center hdc, in center hdc put hdc, ch1,hdc, then finish off with * sc, ch 1 *. As you go, stuff with poly fiber fil before you close opening.
To close opening; slip in beg sc and then slip white yarn down to center ring and fasten off.
Rnd 8: Attach white yarn at center ring, in first slip put * sc, 5 dc in next st* Repeat between * all around, using ch 1 spaces & both sides of sl st. slip in beg sc. fasten off.
Flowers, ribbons, etc. can be added to top where ruffles meet in center. Also can use scented poly fiber fill.
For Sachet & Heartback Chair:Use F hook & red yarn, and rows 1-6 . Make 2 . Holding 2 hearts tog, attach white yarn and sc around to center dc (sc, hdc, sc) in that dc, sc around and sl st to join.(Fasten off here for chairback) Position back onto chair bottom and stitch, then positon round arms and stitch in place on each side of heart back.
For Sachet: Ch 14 & sl st to join for hanging loop for sachet, if desired
