Variation Of Harime's Peek-A-Boo Shell Lapghan

Pattern By: Martha Clem aka StarGazer

This pattern is a variation on the one that I dedicated to my wonderful husband, Harime, who was my biggest supporter and fan and who passed away Nov. 3, 1999. It's starting chain and beginning row, I think, will make it easier to determine just how WIDE you want your ghan to be. This one is worked width by length.

MATERIALS:
6 ozs each of 4 colors, 4 ply worsted weight yarn
Size H crochet hook

FINISHED SIZE:
31" wide x 40" long

PATTERN NOTES: The lapghan above has Rows 2 and 3 repeated 4 times each, for each color ending with row 3.

DIRECTIONS:
Ch 126
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, *ch 4, skip 4 ch, sc in next ch*, repeat between * to end, ending with sc in last ch, ch 3, turn.
Row 2: 2dc in same stitch as ch 3(ch 3 counts as first dc, half shell made), * sc in ch 4 space, 5 dc in next sc*, repeat between * across, ending with 3 dc in last sc, ch 1 turn.
Row 3: Sc in first dc, *ch 4, sc in 3rd dc of next shell*, repeat between * to end, ending with sc in top of the beg ch 3 of previous row, ch 3, turn.
NOTE: AT THE END OF THIS ROW, IS WHERE THE COLOR CHANGES SHOULD BE MADE BEFORE CHAINING 3. THE CHAIN 3 SHOULD BE MADE WITH THE NEW COLOR.

Repeat rows 2 and 3, changing colors as desired, until it measures 40" or desired length, ending with row 3.

FINISHING: The only thing needed for finishing is to make sure all loose ends are weaved in.
