MATERIALS:
2 balls White Knit-Cro-Sheen
Size 7 crochet hook, or size need to obtain gauge
30" round elastic
1-lb coffee can
GAUGE:
8 sts and 9 rnds = 1"
BASE:
Starting at center, ch 5. Join with sl st to form ring.
RND 1: 8 sc in ring. Do not join rnds; mark last st of each rnd for easy counting.
RND 2: 2 sc in each sc around--16sc.
RND 3: * Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * around --24sc.
RND 4: * Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * around--32sc.
RND 5: Sc in each sc around.
RNDS 6 & 7: Sc in each sc around, inc 8 sc evenly spaced being careful incs do not fall over incs of previous rnd.
Repeat Rnds 5-7 until there are 128 sc on a rnd. Work even until piece measures 5" in diameter. Join with sl st to next sc.
SIDE:
RND 1: Picking up back loop only throughout, sc in each sc around. Do Not join rnds; mark last st of each rnd.
RND 2: Working through both loops, sc in each sc around.
RND 3: * Sc in next 3 sts, make pc st (to make pc st, 5 sc in next sc, drop loop from hook, insert hook from front to back in first sc of the 5-sc group and draw dropped loop through, ch 1 to fasten), repeat from * around.
RND 4: * Sc in next sc, pc st in next sc, sc in next sc, sc in fastening ch of next pc st, repeat from * around.
RND 5: * Sc in next sc, sc in fastening ch of next pc st, sc in next sc, pc st in next sc, repeat from * around.
RND 6: Repeat Rnd 4.
RND 7: Sc in each sc and in fastening ch of each pc st around.
RNDS 8 & 9: Sc in each sc around.
RND 10: Sc in each sc around, dec 2 sc evenly spaced--126sc.
RND 11: Sc in next 5 sc, * pc st in next sc, sc in next sc, pc st in next sc, sc in next 11 sc, repeat from * around, end with sc in last 6 sc.
RND 12: Sc in first 4 sc, * (pc st in next sc, sc in fastening ch of next pc st) twice; pc st in next sc, sc in next 9 sc, repeat from * around, end with sc in the last 5 sc.
RND 13: Sc in first 3 sc, * (pc st in next sc, sc in fastening ch of next pc st) 3 times; pc st in next sc, sc in next 7 sc, repeat from * around, end with sc in last 4 sc.
RND 14: Sc in first 2 sc, * (pc st in next sc, sc in fastening ch of next pc st) 4 times; pc st in next sc, sc in next 5 sc, repeat from * around, end with sc in last 3 sc.
RND 15: Sc in first 2 sc * (sc in fastening ch of next pc st, pc st in next sc) 4 times; sc in fastening ch of next pc st, sc in next 5 sc, repeat from * around, end with sc in last 3 sc.
RND 16: Sc in first 3 sc, * (sc in fastening ch of next pc st, pc st in next sc) 3 times; sc in fastening ch of next pc st, sc in next 7 sc, repeat from * around, end with sc in last 4 sc.
RND 17: Sc in first 4 sc, * (sc in fastening ch of next pc st, pc st in next sc)twice; sc in fastening ch of next pc st, sc in next 9 sc, repeat from * around, end with sc in last 5 sc.
RND 18: Sc in each sc and in fastening ch of each pc st around, inc 2 sts evenly spaced--128 sc.
RNDS 19 - 21: Sc in each sc around.
RNDS 22 -26: Repeat Rnds 3 - 7 of Side.
Rnds 27 - 31: Repeat Rnd 8 of Side. At end of Rnd 31, join with sl st to next sc. End off.
LID:
Starting at center, ch 5. Join with sl st to form ring.
RND 1: 6 sc in ring. Do Not join rnds; mark last st of each rnd.
RND 2: 2 sc in each sc aound--12sc.
RND 3: Sc in each sc around.
RND 4: Pc st in each sc around--12 pc sts.
RND 5: 2 sc in fastening ch of each pc st around--24 sc.
RND 6: * Sc in next sc, pc st in next sc, repeat from * around.
RND 7: Sc in each sc and in fastening ch of each pc st around.
RND 8: * Pc st in next sc, sc in next sc, repeat from * around.
RND 9: *Sc in fastening ch of next pc st, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * around--36 sc.
RND 10: Repeat Rnd 8--18pc sts.
Rnd 11: *Sc in fastening ch of next pc st, sc in next sc, 2 sc in fastening ch of next pc stitch, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * around --48sc.
RND 12: Repeat Rnd 8--24 pc sts.
RND 13: Repeat Rnd 7 of Side.
RND 14: *Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * around--60 sc.
RND 15: Sc in each sc around
RNDS 16-17: Sc in each sc around, inc 10 sc evenly spaced--80 sc at the end of Rnd 17.
RNDS 18-20: Repeat Rnds 3, 4, and 3 of Side.
Rnd 21: *Sc in next sc, pc st in next sc, sc in next sc, 2 sc in fastening ch of next pc st, repeat from * around.
RND 22: Sc in each sc and in fastening ch of each pc st around, inc 20 sc evenly spaced--120 sc.
NEXT 8 RNDS: Sc in each sc around. At end of last rnd, join with sl st to next sc. End off.
FINISHING: Draw elastic through sts of last rnd on Side and Lid pieces. Stuff center of lid with cotton and slip over can lid. Slip cover over can. Sew lid to cover along top edge for 1/2" for hinged effect.
