Crocheted Ripple Mittens

SIZE: One size fits all.
MATERIALS:
Worsted Weight - 4ozs. black
3 oz. scarlet
J hook or size needed to obtain gauge.
GAUGE:
3 sts = 1"
NOTE:
Work entire sock in back loop of sts. Work in alternate rnds of black and scarlet. When changing colors, work first half of st with color being used, complete st with new color.
MITTENS:
Starting at tip, with black ch 4, join to form ring, ch 3, work 12 dc in ring, join, pulling scarlet throughh last half of dc.
RND 2: * Skip 1 st, 5 sc in next st, repeat from * around.
RNDS 3 - 9: Skip 2 sc, 1 sc in next sc, 3 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc, repeat from * around.
RND 10: Work same as last rnd, but work 5 sc in each center st of points.
RNDS 11 -14: *Skip 2 sc, 1 sc in each of next 2 sc, 3 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 2 sc, repeat from * around.
RND 15: * Skip 2 sc, 1 sc in each of next 2 sc, 3 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 2 sc, repeat from * once, skip 2 sc, 1 sc in each of next 2 sc, 3 sc in next sc, ch 4 for thumb opening, skip 6 sc, 3 sc in next sc, work in pat to end of rnd.
RNDS 16 -18: * Skip 2 sc, 1 sc in each of next 2 sc, 3 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 2 sc, repeat from * around working pat as established over ch-4 of Rnd 15.
RND 19: * Skip 2 sc, dec 1 st, 3 sc in next st, dec 1 st, repeat from around.
RND 20: * Skip 2 sc, 1 sc in next sc, 3 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc, repeat from * around.
RND 21: * Skip 2 sc, 1 sc in next sc, 5 sc in next sc, repeat from * around.
RNDS 22 - 24: * Skip 2 sc, 1 sc in each of next 2 sc, 3 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 2 sc, repeat from * around.
RND 25: * Skip 2 sc, 1 sc in each of next 2 sc, 5 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 2 sc, repeat from * around.
RND 26: * Skip 2 sc, 1 sc in each of next 3 sc, 3 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 3 sc, repeat from * around.
Repeat Rnd 26 eleven times, or until mitten is desired length, cut yarn.
THUMB:
Attach black in center of last rnd of thumb opening, work 10 sc around opening working 1 sc in each rnd. Work even in sc for 8 rnds or desired length.
NEXT RND: Dec every other st around, cut yarn leaving a 6" length. Thread yarn through sts, draw sts tog, fasten securely.
