Monster Feet Slipper Socks

SIZE: Small Size 2-4 years
NOTE: To make boots smaller or larger, subtract or add rows, by multiples of two, on each top section. It may be
necessary to also widen sole section by two rows for an X-large size.
If boots need to be shortened or lengthened, adjust length of sole section accordingly.
MATERIALS:
1 (3 1/2 OZ) skein green or color of choice, acrylic 4 ply worsted weight yarn
1/2 sheet red, or color of choice, heavy felt and matching sewing thread
Small amount of polyfil
Hook size F
TO MAKE FIRST SECTION:
Ch 46
ROW 1: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in each remaining ch - 45 sts. Ch 1, turn.
ROW 2: Sc in back loop of each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat last row until there are a total of 10 rows on piece.
SECOND SECTION (Sole):
ROW 11: Sc in both lps of each of next 22 sts (sole), sc in back lps of each of next 23 sts. Ch 1, turn.
ROW 12: Sc in back lp of each of next 23 sts, sc in both lps of each of next 22 sts (sole). Ch 1, turn.
Repeat rows 11 and 12 for for a total of 10 rows - 20 rows on piece.
THIRD SECTION:
ROW 21: Sc in back lp of each sc across.
Repeat 21st row for a total of 10 rows - 30 rows on finished piece.
At end of 30th row, fold piece lengthwise, right side together, and slip stitch lengthwise edges together. Cut yarn.
Refold piece so seamed edges are centered over sole section and stitch toe end shut. Turn right side out.
TOES: (Make 4): (1 large, 2 medium, 1 small) for each boot:
LARGE: Ch 2.
RND 1: 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Mark end if rnd with safety pin. Move pin at end of each rnd.
RND 2: 2 sc in each st acround -16 sts.
RNDS 3 & 4: 1 sc in each sc around.
RND 5: Dec 8 sts around - 8 sts.
RND 6: 1 sc in each st around. Cut yarn, leaving enough to sew to foot.
With blunt end of crochet hook work bits of filler into toe. Sew toe to top of boot at foot end.
MEDIUM: Ch 2.
RND 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook
RND 2: 2 sc in each sc around - 12 sts.
RNDS 3 & 4: 1 sc in each sc around.
RND 5: Dec 6 sts around - 6 sts.
RND 6: 1 sc in each sc around. Cut yarn, stuff toe. Sew next to big toe, leaving a small space between. Sew 2nd medium toe next to first medium toe, leaving a small space between.
SMALL: Ch 2.
RND 1: 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook.
RND 2: 2 sc in each sc around - 10 sts.
RND 3 & 4: 1 sc in each st around.
RND 5: Dec 5 sts around - 5 sts.
RND 6: 1 sc in each sc around. Cut yarn. Stuff toe. Attach at edge of boot. Reverse order of toes on second boot.
Using patterns given, cut 2 soles from felt. Slip a cardboard inside each boot and buttonhole stitch each, felt sole over each boot sole.
Buttonhole stitchh toenail to top of each toe.
Adjust size of pattern pieces to fit size boot made.
